BOCAS DEL TORO sails for The Republic of Panama....
Nov 28, 2006The first of 8 Z-Tech tugs (Yard No. 4892) being built for the Panama Canal Authority sailed on its 10,000 miles delivery journey. The delivery voyage is entrusted to the professional crews from Redwise in Holland. With a single refueling stop in Hawaii, the trip is expected to take 52 days.
Power is provided by a pair of Wartsila 9L20 engines each developing 2,448 HP driving LIPS azimuth propellers. The bollard pull is in excess of 60 tonnes.
The second hull shall set sail early December, to be followed closely by the third hull.
BOCAS DEL TORO is hull number 11 of the highly successful Z-Tech tug series designed by Robert Allen.
