Another Z-Tech 6500 tug delivery

Cheoy Lee Shipyards has handed over the second of thirteen Z-Tech tugs ordered by the Panama Canal Authority. The first vessel, Calovebora, was delivered in August 2010, followed now by Changuinola I. The delivery in Hong Kong of Changuinola I coincides almost to the day that Calovebora completed her 10,000nm trans-pacific crossing and arrived in Panama.

The first two vessels have been delivered right on schedule, with the remaining 11 units set to follow this theme. There will be one more delivery later in 2010, followed by nine units in 2011 The final vessel in the order is due for completion in February 2012.

The 6000hp tugs are built to Lloyds Register of Shipping class, with the notation LR +100AN Tug, +LMC UMS for service in the Panama Canal and approaches.
