3 x 58m (190') Anchor Handling tugs

Nov 27, 2008

Cheoy Lee currently has well over 60 vessels on order, with a total contract value that stands at record high. Some, like the 13 units of 5,260 horsepower Z-Tech 6500 tugs for Panama, and six units of 150’ long, powerful Paraguay Class Pushboats for Rio Tinto Brazil, are recent orders. At the other end of the line, three of eight 190’ Anchor Handling Tugs Cheoy Lee is currently building are nearing completion.
All these 190' Anchor Handling Tugs are for valued repeat customers in the Middle East. 'Shark 30', our yard #4969 was launched on October 30, and is currently undergoing systems checks, final fit-out and superstructure painting, prior to delivery to her owners in December. Yard #4938 was pulled out of the covered construction hall on November 21 to see daylight for the first time, and will now be launched on November 28. The third vessel in this trio, #4939, is just over a month behind #4938, scheduled for delivery in February, 2009. All, like the may before them, will make the 10,000nm delivery voyage to the Middle East under their own power.

The 190' Anchor Handling Tug was designed in Singapore by Conan Wu & Associates, with construction to ABS class. Specifications and arrangements vary depending on client requirements. 'Shark 40' is fitted with a pair of 3516 Caterpillar diesels, each developing 2,575hp. The two units to follow have both been fitted with twin Niigata diesels of 2,500hp.
