16.3M Pilot Launch delivery

Jun 25, 2008

Completing a series of three Cheoy Lee pilot boats destined for operation in Qatar, Cheoy Lee’s yard number 4937 was loaded safely onboard at Hong Kong’s container port. The 30 tonnes vessel, with the cradle lashed beneath, was hoisted using the four integral deck lifting eyes on the side decks. This well proven and popular pilot launch was designed by naval architect Frank Mulder.

The pilot vessel is constructed with a rugged single skin GRP hull under Lloyds class survey. A very fine bow, round bilge hull and superstructure sited well aft ensures a very comfortable ride. Performance is also impressive, achieving a top speed of 27 knots from twin Caterpillar diesels each developing 925hp at their heavy duty rating.

The deckhouse has seating for six pilots, with the helmsman and copilot seats forward. Side decks are wide, and for and aft decks are clear to allow free and safe movement on deck. Below decks, there is a head, galley, crew mess area and large store.
