30m Z-Tech 7000 ASD Tug delivery

Given the strength in global demand for tugs and offshore commercial vessels, Cheoy Lee had embarked on several speculative build projects over the past 18 months. Two 58 metre Anchor Handling Tugs (with differing configurations and drive systems), two Z-Tech 7000 tugs, and one 31m ASD tug. Prior to completion, both 58m vessels, and one Z-Tech 7000 were sold, with contracts pending on the remaining two stock vessels. The Z-Tech 7000 tug was delivered on April 25, and the first 58m vessel is due for handover on May 10th. The ability to offer new commercial vessels with short lead times has proven to be an effective strategy. The Z-Tech 7000 owner, Hadi H. Al-Hammam Est., is a long standing customer of Cheoy Lee. The Hadi H. Al-Hammam group is a leading general contracting, trading and marine service provider to the oil and gas, and petrochemical industry in the Middle East, headquartered in Saudi Arabia.

Near sisterships to earlier deliveries in the Z-Tech 7000 tug series, the latest delivery, named Hadi 52, is fitted with two Caterpillar 3516C, 2682hp diesels driving a pair of azimuthing Schottel SRP1515FP rudder propellers. The configuration results in a bollard pull of 70 tonnes, and a free running speed of 13 knots. The vessel is currently on route to the Middle East on her own bottom with a delivery crew from Redwise Maritime.

As with all Z-Tech tugs, the 7000 series is designed by Robert Allan Ltd., and classed to Lloyd’s, with the notation +100A1 Tug, +LMC, UMS.

The lower deck houses six crew members in three cabins. A further 2-man crew cabin is on the main deck as well as two single officer cabins, the galley and crew mess area.
