Interspersed within the slew of Z-Tech 6500 tug deliveries for the Panama Canal Authority, satisfying their latest 13 vessel order, this recent tug delivery is also from the drawing board of Robert Allan. Ocean Perfect, registered in Funafuti, is a RAmparts 3200CL, the second of its kind, and second in a batch of two vessels ordered by the India based client, Ocean Sparkle, Ltd. The RAmparts 3200CL has a range of engine options. The first two units are fitted with twin air start Caterpillar 3516B engines, each developing 2500hp. These diesels drive a pair of azimuthing Schottel SRP1215FP fixed pitch rudder propellers. The tugs offer excellent maneuverability, a top speed of 13 knots and bollard pull of 62 tonnes. Two further units of RAmparts 3200CL are currently under construction, with the same Caterpillar 3516 engines, but at the higher output of 2,682hp each.
Electrical power is from two 3-phase 112kW Perkins generators, with a 40kW unit for harbor service. The tug accommodates 10 crew members on the forward lower deck in two 4-man and one 2-man cabins. The master and Chief Engineer each have their own cabin on the main deck level.
Deck gear includes a MacGregor single drum Towing Winch/Windlass at the bow. The aft deck towing gear includes a MacGregor single drum winch, a cruciform towing bitt and a Mampaey towing hook with remote release. Also on the aft deck is a fixed arm davit for launching the 6-man inflatable rescue boat, both SOLAS approved, and required by the Indian Authority.
A 2740m3/h FFS fire pump is driven off one main engine, and supplies two 1200m3/hr FFS fire monitors, satisfying the vessels Fi-Fi 1 class notation.
An extensive navigation package, primarily from Furuno, includes radar, autopilot, Doppler log, echo sounder, GPS, Inmarsat-C, SSB, VHF, Navtex, AIS and satellite compass.
Cheoy Lee yard number 5010 left Hong Kong in late June, 2011, for Singapore under the command of the owner’s delivery crew. From Singapore, the vessel will sail on to Colombo in Sri Lanka where it will go into service.
The all steel tug is constructed to Lloyds Register classification with the notation, +100A1, Tug, Fire-Fighting Ship 1 with Water Spray *IWS, +LMC, UMS.
